My MSc project was a digital trail guide in the form of a cross-platform hybrid mobile app (Cordova/Ionic/Angular deployed for iOS and Android) and companion website (CMS-backed, an HTML5 progressive app with offline capability using Service Worker). My MSc project was a digital trail guide in the form of a cross-platform hybrid mobile app (Cordova/Ionic/Angular deployed for iOS and Android) and companion website (CMS-backed, an HTML5 progressive app with offline capability using Service Worker). The project finished with a metrics-based usability field study with users. The project was awarded funding from Comunn na Gàidhlig under the Gaelic Innovation Scheme and was the first bilingual English and Gaelic digital tourist guide in the world. My dissertation, "Ro-shamhla Gràmair gun Cho-theacsa Stèidhichte air Feartan airson na Gàidhlig" ("Prototype Context-free Feature-based Grammar for Scottish Gaelic"), is a working prototype system in Python for parsing basic sentences, based on NLTK, including a 12,000 word write-up in Gaelic. A computational analysis of a Middle Scots poem, with the aim of finding correlations between offensive expressions, semantic fields, etymologies and parts of speech, included design of a custom encoding scheme for the poem.
